Another idea that struck me was that as a church we need to experience success. Imagine a basketball team that had the same players year after year and after 10 years they hadn't one a single game. It isn't just that they haven't one a single game, but it has been years since they even scored a point. How much would those players be interested in playing the game? How many would have already quit? Many churches are in decline. I think a part of it is because they aren't seeing positive results for their efforts. So I think there is some truth and wisdom in finding ways to actually have wins as Christians. People are attracted to people with confidence and who are winners. Can we admit that we aren't all that attractive if our attitude is that there is no use talking to anyone because they don't want to hear what we have to say, and that we are no longer acceptable in society because everyone is moving away from Christianity? Are we attractive to people if we are embarrassed of what we believe and who we are?
